Ok so I know that I just said how excited I was a day or two ago about couponing…well I just got home from target and I’m singing a different tune today.
I went for the FREE toothpaste deal. Provided to me very clearly and easily from KrazyCouponLady.com – great site and great app if you’re looking for couponing assistance.
First of all, it’s Tuesday and there were literally only like 9 tubes of toothpaste left that fit this promotion (and none of the Venus Olay Shave Gel that I was also going to do a deal with…whoa there are a lot more couponers than I thought).
I tried to do much couponing at once is my problem. I’m still learning and trying to establish new habits.
I also lost track of time doing some other shopping in the black hole that is Target. (I actually really LOVE Target as I’m sure you do too you know what I mean!)
So I was flustered at checkout because I was going to be late to relieve my babysitter. ??
So there I was ready to go at the self checkout – the staff was really helpful and showed me where to get the promotional gift cards from and what to do with my coupons etc.
I began with the baby items I’d purchased with because of the $25 off of $100 baby purchase. It worked I got a $5 gift card for buying 3 Johnson and Johnson baby washes, then got the total to $100 and then got the $25 gift card too! Both gift cards are for a future purchase only. PUMPED UP I was, so pumped that I forgot to check out with my Target card to save an additional 5%…damn it! Mistake number 1. I was also supposed to save 10% on the honest company stuff with the Target Cartwheeel savings app…I have no idea if that happened or not. Awesome. I’ll check after this.
Ok ok ok, you can go to customer service and they can re-ring it all. Except I have no time for that today especially but really ever.
Moving on.
The toothpaste…easy right? Wrong.
Scan all 3 tubes and $5 gift card promotion is prompted, I panic and don’t know if I should end transaction or not or what to do…so I just end it so I can use gift card on next purchase. Ok I pay with the gift cards from baby purchase and easy peasy. DAMN IT! I forgot to use the two newspaper coupons that I cut out for the toothpaste! Are you f-ing kidding me? Mistake number 2.
Don’t worry you can have that fixed at customer service too. Thanks.
Ok next, laundry detergent, managed to remember to get the gift card and use the coupons from newspaper, but forgot the cartwheel app again for 10% off laundry. Mistake #3.
Cashier fixed it for me manually. ????
Gillette shaving gel for the hubby…buy 3 get a $5 gift card plus I had 2 coupons (was supposed to use 3 printable coupons but could only manage to get two to print before leaving home) for $0.50 off 1. I have no idea how much they cost me but I know I used one of the gift card balances from the previous transactions to pay so maybe nothing.
Final mistake of the trip was not cashing out before buying the non coupon stuff I was still purchasing so that I could use the final $5 gift card today instead of having to keep it in my wallet. Oh well.
I did also find some winter clearance clothing for my toddler ($3.50 for long sleeve henley t-shirts) that I purchased in his current size and one or two sizes up.
I didn’t stock up on too many winter clothes as we don’t need that much here in Florida but it can’t hurt to have a few things for those chilly Florida days.
